Staycation at the wink hotel!

Although I live in the DC Metro region, I planned a short staycation in Washington, DC because it is such an amazing city.  It offers so much at every corner of the capital from food, to museums, to public parks with such beautiful and historic scenery.

With the redevelopment of so many corridors in the last decade, it has become a hot spot for our millions of visitors who come for the sights, but stay for the food, drinks, and atmosphere.  If you are planning a visit from out of town, I know the perfect place for you to enjoy your stay, the brand new “the wink” hotel.  Formerly “The Renaissance,” it is right down the street from two of the coolest spots in town, Georgetown and Dupont Circle.

The wink gives you the feel of a medium sized corporate hotel from the outside, but as soon as you step in you are in a chic boutique hot spot with the friendliest of staff.  The decoration is very nice, but not over the top, and the lounge is perfect for a nice candle light dinner for a date, but bright enough to hang out with friends and family.  If you are looking for a cool spot for some drinks, the bar manager and bartenders got you covered!  They have a full selection of libations and elixirs to satisfy the straight bourbon connoisseur to those who like more accompaniments in their drinks.

We stayed in one of the suites, which provide all the comforts of home, with a separate living room and a desk for those of you traveling on business.  We were not planning on doing any work whatsoever though, our priorities were to chill, eat, drink, and be merry…repeat!

Speaking of eating, I had the privilege of meeting Executive Chef Cory Randolph, a true culinary genius who is raising the bar in hotel cuisine.  Raise your hand if you have stayed at a hotel and never bothered to check out their restaurant?  Well, Chef Cory is revamping the menu to make you think twice about dining outside the hotel.

How does the following lineup sound to you: Seared scallops with a citrus butter sauce, muscles that will melt in your mouth they are so tender, and a watercress, goat cheese and beet salad for you salad lovers, are you full yet?  Wait, I have not told you about the halibut with beurre blanc and yellow pepper sauce topped with crunchy fried leeks.

Yes, this is what the wink is bringing to Washington, DC, their A game baby.  All you need to do now is bring your game to “the wink.”  You’ll be very happy you did, as am I.
